Welcome to the Black Country Society website.  The Society is concerned with the history, people, places and lifestyles of the generations that lived, worked and played in the area and those currently making a difference. The Society shop 

The Black Country Society sells a range of books in its online shop, both those published by the society and those from other sources. In addition a small number of gift items available such as tea towels, are also for sale.

Events

The Black Country Society delivers a program of events each year and invites all members to join in and attend. Events are arranged to suit all ages and interests and include talks on specific subjects, both face to face and online via Zoom, walks around areas of historic and local interest, guided tours, visits to special locations, museums, business establishments and places of historic interest.

This page is devoted to the Society's magazine - the Blackcountryman which has been regularly published for over 50 years. Contents lists can be browsed and members can (through a password) access pdf's of all back copies of the magazine

Archives

Since its founding in 1967, the Society has built up a large document archive - minutes of meetings, 200+ copies of the Blackcountryman, almost a 100 books, together with Christmas cards, calendars, first day covers etc. Work is underway to properly store and archive this material and the link below gives access to much of this material
